Current farm business

  • Agriculture graduate Sam Alexander and her partner – who is currently studying agriculture - have been both tenant farmers and farm managers.  They have currently stepped back from livestock farming to prioritise their own personal development and to build up their consultancy business,  working with clients including Farming Connect, the Soil Association and the Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board.  The partnership works with farmers on topics including cattle lameness, sustainable land management, carbon foot-printing and business development.
  • Sam brings together her practical knowledge of livestock farming alongside research and data, which is a key part of her role as a sustainability manager with a leading UK-wide company where she leads on the development and delivery of sustainability programmes on behalf of creameries.
  • Her role involves delivering practical advice to farmers on nutrient use, crop requirement and soil health, alongside working with farmers to produce reports for the creamery.  She sits on the company’s management team, contributing to decisions on strategic planning, trials, campaigns and events.   This all adds up to significant knowledge and expertise that she’s looking forward to sharing in her latest role as an Agrisgôp leader.
  • Sam enjoys the many hats she wears on farm, with experience in different roles allowing her to take ‘helicopter views’ of the businesses.  Sam knows that on farm, nothing usually happens in isolation, with strengths and issues usually having a complex cause and effect. Sam excels in problem solving and guiding farmers through change. By taking stock of what's working well on farm, what's perhaps not going so well and where the business wants to be in 5-10-15 years, having a strategic plan is something Sam feels passionately about.
  • Whatever topic is under the spotlight in Sam’s Agrisgôp group, rest assured you’ll gain the confidence and knowledge you need to help you and the other group members learn and acquire knowledge in a supported environment which enables you to focus on the sustainability and profitability of your farm business or diversification venture.
