Rhiannon Phillips

Glynarthen, Ceredigion

The pandemic focussed Rhiannon Phillips’ mind on the importance of Wales as a self-sustaining food producing nation and reinforced her ambition to help deliver that ambition by working in agriculture.

Rhiannon is studying agriculture at Reaseheath College, currently on her placement year at Wynnstay.

She grew up on a dairy farm and recently started a project of her own with the introduction of nine pedigree Jerseys into the family’s Holstein herd.

As an active member of Troedyraur YFC, she enjoys participating in club activities.

After completing her college course Rhiannon plans to study agriculture at university.

Ahead of that, she knows that the Agri Academy Junior Programme will help with her planning towards her future career path.

“I care about the future of the environment and am keen to learn how we in the agriculture industry can reduce our carbon footprint and farm more effectively."

“I hope to benefit from good advice from mentors and experts in their fields and to someday use this on the family farm.’’
