Menna Protheroe

Llanwrtyd Wells, Powys

There was never any doubt for Menna Protheroe that farming would be her future career path.

Growing up on the family’s beef and sheep farm, Cwmbryn, at Beulah she has been immersed in agriculture from the day she was born.

She is now studying agriculture at Coleg Cambria Llysfasi.

The Young Farmers’ movement has played an important part in her life; as a member of Troedrhiwdalar YFC since the age of 10, she has competed in everything from stock judging and cookery to dancing.

It was her sister’s participation in the Agri Academy programme in 2017 that encouraged Menna to apply in 2023, seeing her sister use the knowledge she had gained within her education.

She is eagerly anticipating her own experience.

“I hope to meet people who are just as passionate about the industry as I am, to make friends with like-minded people who want to secure the future of our agricultural industry.

“I know that this programme will provide me with a wealth of opportunities to do so.’’
